Barrel & Grain Woodcraft – Care Instructions

Your Barrel & Grain piece has been crafted by hand from quality timber and finished to last. With the right care, it will continue to age beautifully and serve you for many years.

Cleaning

  • Wipe down with a damp cloth after use.

  • Use a mild soap if needed, then dry immediately.

  • Never soak in water or put in the dishwasher — excess moisture can cause the wood to swell, crack, or warp.

Maintenance

  • Timber benefits from occasional oiling to stay nourished and protected.

  • Every few months (or when the wood looks dry), apply a light coat of timber oil or paste wax.

  • Rub in with a soft cloth, let it absorb for a few hours, then buff off the excess.

  • Oiling enhances the grain and helps resist stains, moisture, and everyday wear.

Storage

  • Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading or drying.

  • Avoid storing near heaters, fireplaces, or damp areas.

  • If your item includes metal hardware, be sure to dry it thoroughly after cleaning to prevent rust.

Long-Term Care

  • Small scratches or marks can often be smoothed out with a light sanding using fine-grit sandpaper, followed by re-oiling.

  • Natural variations in color, grain, and character are part of the charm of real wood — your piece will develop a unique patina over time.
